The HIHIT program includes four courses to choose from and hands-on training with electronic health record software systems, including a working health information exchange (HIE). You will also learn to analyze, visualize, and exchange healthcare data using HL7, MS Excel, SQL, and Tableau. A final data visualization project will help you tie all of these concepts together.

TWO PATHWAYS TO COMPLETION

9-Week Synchronous Program

This full-time, 9-week program is designed for post-baccalaureate students. You should expect to dedicate a minimum of 40 hours per week to this program.  You will gain knowledge in four didactic courses and receive hands-on training with electronic health record software systems. The program culminates with a final data visualization project.

If your current schedule won’t allow for the full-time program, or you aren’t looking to earn a certificate but would like to expand your knowledge in a specific area of health informatics or health IT, this option is for you. This program is comprised of four courses. When you enroll in a course, you have 90 days to complete the coursework. You can complete all four courses to earn the certificate over time or choose the courses that are most relevant to your career goals.
